Located in the bleary-eyed village of Mihiripenna and just a quarter of an hour’s drive from Galle, Wild Grass is an intimate four bedroom villa with an impressive commitment to nature. Following in the practices of eco friendly resort building, Wild Grass in surrounded by acres of lush foliage which teem with life, yet it offers every modern convenience available. It is located just a quarter of an hour away from the Sigiriya rock fortress and 20 minutes away from the Dambulla cave temples. The journey from the international airport will take approximately four hours.


A foremost feature of Wild Grass is that it situated on 30 acres of unfenced jungle land. Thus, there are literally no boundaries between you and the forests that stretch as far as the eye can see. The air is fresher and every minute of your day is accompanied by the magical sound of birdsong and chirping crickets. Even the occasional elephant may wonder past as you look out of your window. Strict environmental practices are adhered to and vegetables are farmed using organic farming principles for the hotel’s own use.


Accommodation comes in the form of five well appointed villas which are constructed out of wood and stone. Inspired by the wonders of the surrounding forests as well as with undertones of Sri Lankan architecture, the villas are everything you can expect in a modern jungle retreat. Extensive use of glass evokes feelings of oneness with the earth as you wake up every morning to nature at its most relaxed. The bathrooms are open to the skies. Each villa stands alone as a separate unit with a living space, bedroom and private terrace with a minimum distance of 50 feet between each. They can sleep two or three, while villas with two bedrooms are ideal for families or groups traveling together. Other amenities include a flat screen TV with satellite channels, IDD telephone, tea/coffee making facilities, wireless internet, minibar, reading material as well as board games.


The main restaurant which also has panoramic views features teak floors and timber roofs. The chef prepares a sumptuous range of both local and international cuisine at times which are dictated by guests. There is a large swimming pool and well marked nature and jogging trails within the property. Mountain bikes are available as well as an outdoor badminton court.
