Anilana Criagbank is

Anilana Craigbank is
housed in a 160 year old colonial property and has in its embrace ample garden
space. Originally designed by a Frenchman, this European style home can seem
like something out of an old country novel. The calming mountain air does
wonders to soothe a weary soul and the child friendly atmosphere makes it an
idyll for families traveling together. The interiors are aesthetically pleasing
with carefully chosen antiques and furniture while every modern convenience
balances this antiquity. Anilana Craigbank is truly evocative of a bygone era
and can even seem like a passage through time. It is also in close proximity to
the town of Nuwara Eliya- a hillside hamlet, which was once called ‘little
England’ and British colonial influences have been well preserved. Craigbank’s
own canine duo- Labrador retrievers named Gin & Tonic are up for a game of
fetch with a young one at any time.
There are four
bedrooms on offer and each of them are well decorated and feature working
fireplaces which are lit every evening. There are also heaters and the attached
bathroom has hot water, bath tubs and twin vanities. They are also painted in
different colours so that each have a distinctive personality. The master
bedroom features a large double bed and a fireplace in the bedroom as well as
in the bathroom. Large French windows will take you out onto the gardens.
Anilana Craigbank has
several places in which to observe the views, enjoy a cup of the finest Sri
Lankan tea or curl up with a good book. Both the drawing room and the verandahs
are examples of this. There is also a flat screen TV, DVD player and a library
of books- some new while others are old, as well as board games. The ten seater
dining table is an option for mealtime, while others include the verandahs or
the privacy of your own room. The resident cook prepares a variety of cuisine
consisting of Sri Lankan and international dishes. The housekeeping staff will
assist whenever required and the gardens are great for evening walks.
Do take the time to explore Nuwara Eliya, where old colonial
homes and immaculately clipped English lawns will make you question where it is
you took a holiday to. The Golf Course offers a challenging game as well as an
opportunity to play in a comfortable climate. For a full list of activities,
