Located in the
sparsely populated, pristine beach town of Tangalle, Kadju House is a beach
villa with a contemporary edge. It looks out over the dazzling Seenimodara Bay-
one that comes highly praised for its crystalline waters. The journey from
Colombo will take approximately five hours along the southern coast.
Kadju House derives
its name from its surrounding environs, as Kadju is the local term for cashew
nut. It is set against the charming backdrop of an extensive cashew, fruit and
vegetable plantation, and is a idyll for a private retreat. The two storey
villa perches on a little hillock with prime views of the bay while the staff
features a gourmet chef. The interiors consist of a blend of tropical
aesthetics and modern lines with uncut granite, cool cement and bursts of
There are four
bedrooms up for grabs at the Kadju House, all of which come with attached open
plan bathroom, beds adorned with linens, mosquito linens and ceiling fans. Sea
Suite is located on the upper floor and has a private balcony while Courtyard
Suite opens out into its own private courtyard with a lotus pond. Pool Suite is
secluded and rests away from the rest of the house and Garden Suite has a
private garden, TV and DVD players and is well suited to children.
The in house chef
will prepare a variety of cuisine made from organic produce. Both local and
international fare is served. The infinity pool is the focal point of the villa
and is filled with fresh water, making it eco sound and nature friendly. There
is an Ayurvedic Spa that offers relaxation therapies and massage and a yoga
instructor can be organized on request.
Bay is marvelously unspoiled and often stretches for miles without a single
soul in the horizon. Long walks can be taken here, and sunsets and sunrise of
absolute perfection can be witnessed. You can also drive to the historic city
of Galle and 17th century UNESCO World Heritage Site or visit the turtle
