This historic villa
dates back to the 17th century and is situated in the centre of Galle town, on
the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Galle has been designated a world heritage
site by UNESCO, and the Courtyard is the perfect spot from which to experience
this ancient city, first stand.
The Courtyard is a
piece of history in itself, being one of the oldest Dutch buildings inside the
Fort. The villa has been renovated to preserve its distinct colonial style and
also has a courtyard garden - a remnant from the British period. Gracefully
charming, the villa creates a rustic atmosphere with its high ceilings, old
fans and antique wooden doors with a modern touch. You can delight in the
glorious town of Galle by watching spectacular sunsets from the walls of the
500 year old Fort, walking through its historical streets, visiting old
churches and museums.
The Courtyard Villa
has 5 double bedrooms with air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms.
Two managers are available to make your stay more
comfortable; they can advise you on how best to experience this quirky old
city. There is a cook provided with a fully equipped kitchen, as well as a 12
person dining room. The courtyard itself is a great place to dine.
