Overview

Park Street Hotel now occupies what was once an authentic colonial bungalow. This 250 year old building stands adjacent to warehouses and cafes on a two acre property. Once the home of an eccentric couple Sheik Moosajee and wife Begum Zarina Moosajee (an artist) that were considered among the top rung of Colombo, it has been tastefully renovated and refurbished and now stands as an elegant yet laid back accommodation option. The interiors are tastefully decorated with antiques, Dutch period furniture and Begum’s paintings adorn the walls even today. A part of the esteemed Anilana Villas collection, Park Street stands as a testament to the group’s commitment to personalized service and attention to detail.

Accommodation

The Park Street Hotel houses two suites and ten rooms all of which are decorated to suit the refined. The suites are housed in what were originally the private bedrooms of the owners and feature en suite bathrooms and the resplendent style that was typical of old colonial homes. The tastefully chosen antique furniture is evocative of years long past, though the modern amenities keep visitors comfortably in the now. The Begum Suite features a large garden and private terraces for entertaining. The rooms are housed in what was once an old warehouse and thus incorporate a sizeable amount of space. The high ceilings have been utilized and now feature tall imposing windows as well. The layout is airy and includes a private living, dining and dressing space while the sleeping area leads into the attached bath. Furnishings are a clever mix of dark, slick wood and softer leather and water hyacinth. Walls are adorned by one of a kind paintings by a prominent Sri Lankan artist, which can be purchased if desired. All rooms and suites features king size beds, top notch Indian linens, TV with satellite channels. DVD player, music system and personal safes.

Facilities

There is a hotel pool as well as a lounge area which is tastefully decorated with ornate chandeliers, paintings and antique furniture. The restaurant offers al fresco dining with delightful fusion cuisine comprising of western and eastern dishes. There is also a gymnasium and fully equipped conference room for business meetings.
